Edvard Grieg is portrayed as probably the best-known national romantic composer and the most famous Scandinavian in classical music. His works carry a strong Norwegian character yet are loved by audiences around the world. Among the enduring favourites the series names are the Piano Concerto in A minor and the piece “In the Hall of the Mountain King”.

Grieg’s release was the eleventh of twelve, arriving on 5 April 2011 after the Schubert album and before the Handel album. The twelve albums came out between 2 November 2010 and 19 April 2011, typically about two weeks apart.
The page adds a playful remark that a drama without trolls and goblins would hardly count as a drama. Each album in the run focuses on a single composer. See all releases on the albums page or return to the home page.
